Forum Panel Discussion Members Sought
The Humanist Community Program Committee is looking for Community members interested in participating in future Forums consisting of panel discussions on a variety of subjects. Some possible discussion topics are:
- Is there a difference between torture and ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’?
- Should the U.S. congress recognize the Armenian genocide?
- Does Iran have a right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes?
- Is capital punishment justifiable and if so, under what circumstances?
- Is Atheism a necessary and sufficient condition for Humanism?
- Are there differences between Humanists and Atheists? If yes, what are they?
- Should the draft be re-instituted?
- Should we have public funding of health care for all?
- Is Humanism compatible with laissez-faire capitalism a la Friedman?
- Is Humanism compatible with socialism?
If you would like to participate in a panel discussion of any of these topics, or of any other topics, please e-mail the Program Committee via hcinfo@humanists.org giving your opinions on one or more topics (from the above list and/or your own topics). This will help the Committee select panels with the greatest diversity of views.
The format of this type of Forum will allow each speaker to present his or her views in 5 - 10 minutes and then answer written questions from the audience. We would love to hear from you.
